REPAIRS

More often than not, you will know if your piano is in need of repair. Sticking keys or notes not playing can indicate a multitude of mechanical errors. Many of these errors are minor and can be repaired during your tuning appointment. For repairs that require a larger investment in time, or that must be done in-shop, my fee is $75/hr.

VOICING

Each and every piano has a different tone characteristic, which often changes over time due to the compacting of hammer felt. Qualified piano technicians are able to modify this tone to a certain degree, through a process called voicing. This will even the tone throughout the piano to remedy harsh sounding notes or bring out dull notes.

The tonal quality of a piano is very much a personal preference.  Brian will work with you to arrive at the best tone for your musical style.

APPRAISALS

If you're considering buying or selling a piano, it is best to have the piano appraised in order to get a fair price.

Many used pianos have not had proper care and can have hidden mechanical issues that will cost more money for the buyer to fix. As with a vehicle, malfunctions unknown at the time of purchase can lead to an amount to work that exceeds the value of the piano.

As a seller, it's important know what your piano is worth, as well as any problems that have arisen inside of the instrument. Knowledge of your piano ensures that you are selling it for its full worth and have transparency with your buyer about its value and functionality.

HUMIDITY CONTROL

Brian is a certified installer of Dampp Chaser's Piano Life Saver system. The Saver system is installed under the soundboard of the piano, out of sight, and creates its very own ecosystem to ensure that your pianos wooden components stay fully functional and intact. Not only does it prevent damage to soundboard, pin block, and action parts, but It also helps keep your piano in tune by controlling the relative humidity. This means that your soundboard will not expand and contract with the seasonal changes in humidity. To learn more about this system, you can visit Dampp Chaser's website here.
