REBUILDING
Although the piano is a remarkably durable instrument, it has a limited lifetime. Wooden structures weaken and crack, felt wears out, and strings break. While regular service can compensate for minor wear, heavy use combined with seasonal humidity changes can cause severe deterioration. By replacing pin blocks, soundboards, bridges, strings, and action parts, a piano's lifetime can be extended by decades.
I offer both complete and partial rebuilding, based on what the piano needs. Complete rebuilding includes the replacement of the soundboard, bridges, pin block, strings, and action parts, as well as case and plate refinishing. Partial rebuilding may include only one or two of these things, which the technician and owner will decide.
There is no set price for rebuilding. The technician will provide an initial written assessment of the piano, with an estimate included.
